Biography

Prof. Dr. Md. Robed Amin, M.B.B.S, FCPS, FACP, FRCP, is a distinguished professor of medicine and the former Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in Bangladesh. With over 230 publications in international and national journals, he has earned several prestigious awards, including the Nepal International Excellence Golden Award and Best Educator by ACP Bangladesh Chapter. He has held multiple leadership roles, such as General Secretary of the Toxicology Society of Bangladesh and member secretary of the Tropical Disease Research Cell at Dhaka Medical College. Dr. Amin is also a reviewer for renowned journals like The Lancet Infectious Diseases and BJM.

Dr. Amin has been actively involved in the development of national medical guidelines for diseases like Dengue, Malaria, and COVID-19, and has served as a key member in formulating policies on various health issues in Bangladesh. He has been the editor of various medical journals and training materials, including guidelines on NCDs, hypertension, and diabetes. As a trainer and national resource person, Dr. Amin is dedicated to improving medical practices and quality healthcare in Bangladesh, especially for marginalized communities.

Job Responsibilities

• Oversight of Data and Safety: Lead the review of interim data for safety, efficacy, and risk-benefit assessment.
• Independent Evaluation: Make unbiased decisions on trial continuation, modification, or termination based on safety concerns and clinical outcomes.
• Stakeholder Communication: Serve as liaison between DSMB, study sponsor, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders.
• Protocol Adherence: Ensure the trial follows ethical protocols and regulatory guidelines.
• Report Preparation: Lead the preparation of findings and recommendations reports for the sponsor and stakeholders.
• Ethical Oversight: Ensure participant safety, consent, confidentiality, and rights.
• Risk Mitigation: Advise on emerging risks and necessary trial adjustments.
• Meeting Leadership: Convene and chair DSMB meetings, focusing on safety and data integrity.
• Final Recommendations: Provide final recommendations on trial progression based on DSMB analysis.
